CHI Health – Midlands Community Hospital
Nearly three decades after its commencement, the seven-story, 280,000-SF facility required a major renovation to accommodate the growing population in the Omaha, Nebraska area. Consolidation of multiple entry points into a single, easily identifiable curved entry was achieved at the front of the existing rectilinear form. The entrance and main lobby create a prominent new image for the hospital while greatly enhancing wayfinding.
The new emergency department contains nine treatment rooms and two trauma suites. A state-of-the-art procedure center accommodates 12 private pre- and post-operative patient recovery rooms, five operating suites, two catheterization labs, and three GI/minor procedures rooms. To better serve the growing demographic of young families, the obstetrics suite was remodeled to include four new labor and delivery rooms, a new C-section operating suite, 12 post-partum rooms, and a 12-bed nursery.
