Lakeside Hospital

Omaha, Nebraska

Lakeside Hospital is designed to create a healing environment that promotes the emotional, spiritual, social and physical health of patients and their families. Natural light and plants fill the main entrance/atrium and intimate spaces throughout the hospital give family members privacy to connect and support one another. The hospital’s healing garden features a sunken garden with plants and flowers and a stream flowing over rocks. Accessibility to services such as x-ray and outpatient surgery is clearly visible from the main entrance, reducing stress to patients and visitors.
Amenities include Internet access in patient rooms, private rooms with a hotel feel, and cuisine that can be ordered on-demand, room-service style. A covered drop-off at the main entrance accommodates multiple vehicles. An integrated system of digital technology tracks/protects patient medical information. The facility was designed for maximum future nursing unit expansion and horizontal flexibility for all clinical and diagnostic ancillary service departments.
