The City of Henderson has completed Fire Station No. 81, a transformative adaptive reuse project that converted a former Camping World retail center and warehouse into a modern, full-service fire station. This strategic redevelopment responds to the growing needs of District 81, where the population of 32,800 is projected to generate more than 4,800 emergency calls annually by 2028.

Following a comprehensive fire department needs assessment by LEO A DALY, the City prioritized rapid facility improvements to enhance firefighter safety and community service. The adaptive reuse design leverages the existing box-store structure while introducing specialized fire service features:

  • Three double-deep, drive-through apparatus bays for efficient vehicle movement and response readiness

  • Accommodations for eleven firefighters and a battalion chief, supporting 24/7 operations

  • 10,000-SF fire warehouse serving as the central distribution hub for equipment and medical supplies

    • Includes a loading dock and high-pile storage capacity for streamlined logistics

Station 81 replaces the district’s outdated facility with a modern, resilient hub designed to meet current and future demands. By repurposing an existing commercial building, the City achieved both cost efficiency and sustainability, while delivering a state-of-the-art fire station that strengthens emergency response capabilities for Henderson’s growing community.
