Interior Design
Broward County engaged LEO A DALY to provide comprehensive architectural and interior design services for its combined facility for the County medical examiner office and Sheriff’s Office crime laboratory. The facility completely relocates the current Broward County Medical Examiner/ Trauma Services Office and Broward County Sheriff’s Office Crime Lab into a new, shared, multi-story facility.
The Medical Examiner’s Office and Crime Lab occupies the two-story north wing. The secure area includes a shared lobby, 200-seat training room, fitness/wellness center, community breakroom and open-air courtyard. In addition to administration suites, the north wing includes toxicology, autopsy and morgue labs along with pathology, investigations and trauma services suites and a secure sallyport. \
The crime lab occupies the three-story south wing. In addition to administration suites, this wing includes evidence control and crime scene units, along with serology, latent prints, firearms and controlled substance labs. The firearms lab includes a live ammunition firing range used for forensic purposes.
Security-focused site improvements include perimeter walls and gates along the four surrounding property lines and a secure, 225-space parking garage to store staff and department vehicles.
