Lake Elmo’s City Hall and Public Safety Facility brings key civic and public safety services together under one roof, creating a more accessible and efficient hub for the growing community. The project renovated and expanded the City-owned Brookfield office building to accommodate City Hall staff and functions, the Fire Department, and a satellite office for the Washington County Sheriff’s Department within the historic core of the city.
The facility addressed the City’s need for additional space after staff outgrew the former 2,806-SF City Hall. The expanded City Hall provides improved access to services, additional office and conference space, accessible restrooms, a community room for public use, and new Council Chambers with updated technology. The project also expanded the Public Works facility to support continued growth and evolving service needs.
As part of the project, Lake Elmo’s two existing fire stations were consolidated into a single, state-of-the-art fire station designed to meet the evolving needs of the community and its firefighters. The facility accommodates increasing call volumes, expanded training needs, and the City’s role as an all-hazards responder. Firefighter spaces include dorm rooms, a day room and kitchen, fitness room, staff workspaces, and offices.
