Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska celebrates grand opening of new childcare and workforce development center
The new 30,000-square-foot center supports childcare, workforce development and community opportunity in Winnebago.
WINNEBAGO, Neb. — The Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska celebrated the grand opening of its new childcare and workforce development center on June 24, marking an important milestone for children, families and community members in Winnebago.
The 30,000-square-foot facility brings together early childhood learning, family support and workforce development spaces in a setting designed to reflect the history, culture and traditions of the Ho-Chunk people. Developed in close collaboration with Tribal leadership, the building supports the Tribe’s long-term vision for self-sufficiency, opportunity and cultural continuity.
LEO A DALY’s design responds to that vision through architectural forms and details inspired by Ho-Chunk heritage. The building’s massing draws from the Thunderhawk and traditional ciiporoke dwellings, while material patterns and interior elements reference traditional artwork, including weaving, basket making and beadwork.
By combining childcare and workforce development under one roof, the center is intended to strengthen connections between learning, family life and career pathways. The facility creates welcoming spaces for children to grow while supporting broader community goals around education, training and economic opportunity.
The grand opening ceremony was hosted at the New Nikjak Wakacak anaga Wagijire building. The project team included Ho-Chunk Construction and VIREO Landscape Architects.
LEO A DALY congratulates the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska on this meaningful milestone and is honored to have contributed to a project that supports future generations while celebrating the Tribe’s identity, values and vision for the future.
