Built in 1985, the Skutt Student Center is a three-story building that provides students, faculty, and visitors a centralized campus location to gather, meet friends, and provide food alternatives in the form of dining and grab-n-go. Similar to Memorial Union's goals, this renovation project includes:

Multi-Story Renovation: That includes space utilization, deferred maintenance, deficiency related upgrades, furniture & finish needs, and corridor circulation & connection improvements.

22,000 SF: Refresh of the dining/cafeteria, lounge/commons areas, commercial kitchen, coffee shop, assembly spaces, meeting rooms, and offices.

Systems: Replacing and modernizing mechanical, electrical, and fire and life safety infrastructure.

Functionality: Outfitted with a variety of durable furnishings to maximize functionality, including comfortable lounge seating in the commons spaces next to the fire place, variety of tables and seating options in the dining space, and creating a staired seating area to help enhancing collaboration and study options, increasing student stay-time at the building.

Universal Design: Addresses interior and exterior grade changes in the dining and lounge spaces to accommodate greater ADA accessibility to minimize sustained physical effort by users, adaptable seating – seated or standing, and visual/tactile wayfinding throughout.
