LEO A DALY designs healthcare clinic around three-story glass Chihuly sculpture
The Dale Chihuly sculpture will serve as a gateway to the Nebraska Medical Center campus
The Nebraska Medical Center has announced that the Shikhar and Kristin Saxena Health Center in midtown Omaha will prominently display a 30-foot-tall glass sculpture by Dale Chihuly.
LEO A DALY’s design of the building showcases the artwork via a three-story structural glass volume on the west façade that frames the sculpture as well as provides patient access and waiting areas. This sculpture, relocated from the Joslyn Art, anchors the northwest corner of the building. Encased in five custom-fabricated, 10-foot-wide by 45-foot-tall, insulated glass panels, the sculpture becomes a beacon at the northern edge of campus, visible from the busy intersection and serving as a visual and symbolic landmark.
The nearly 100,000 SF midtown Omaha health center will house the hospital system’s dermatology program, as well as outpatient GI, behavioral health services and general internal medicine.
