Two leaders in LEO A DALY’s Los Angeles studio have been recognized as Women of Influence in construction, engineering and architecture by the Los Angeles Business Journal. This honors their impactful contributions to architecture, design, and their communities.
Christy Coleman, senior associate and director of design for hospitality interiors, has built an impressive career centered on creating integrated, timeless designs for luxury hotels, resorts, and restaurants worldwide.). Her portfolio includes renowned brands like Kimpton, The Ritz-Carlton, and Leading Hotels of the World. Since joining LEO A DALY in 2021, Coleman has led her team in designing distinguished projects like the Ritz-Carlton Las Colinas, Aurora Anguilla Resort, and La Quinta Resort.
Beyond her design work, Coleman has led her team to two consecutive NEWH TopID Awards and participated in Art Swagger LA, supporting Free Arts LA’s mission to bring art opportunities to underserved children. She also actively mentors up-and-coming designers, championing scholarship, education, and mentorship in hospitality design.
Michelle Saquilayan, senior associate and project director, has dedicated over a decade to designing critical healthcare spaces for U.S. veterans across Southern California. Saquilayan manages impactful projects like the West LA VA Campus, which includes the transformational Critical Care Tower and programs for transitional housing and eye care. Her work fosters improved healthcare access for veterans while advancing sustainable design through projects like the LEED Platinum-certified Loma Linda Eye Clinic.
Saquilayan is also a passionate mentor to emerging female architects She empathizes with the challenges faced in the early stages of an architect’s career and is steadfast in her dedication to nurturing the growth of others, mirroring her own journey.
Her leadership extends to community projects, including environmental clean-ups and holiday donation drives, reflecting her dedication to both her industry and broader societal impact.
