The Minneapolis chapter of the American Institute of Architects has bestowed awards on two LEO A DALY projects, marking the firm’s sixth consecutive year earning this win.
The AIA Minneapolis Merit Awards recognize architectural projects that demonstrate excellence beyond design, emphasizing public interest and the forces shaping buildings.
On Wake Tech Community College in Wendell, North Carolina, the public safety facility is the first ground-up building on the new East Wake Tech campus. Designed with partners Boomerang Design, the 77,000 SF facility is a state-of-the-art complex that provides comprehensive, hands-on training for the college and regional public safety agencies.
The Lake Elmo City Center converted and expanded a previously underutilized building into a modern City Hall, fire station and satellite sheriff’s office. The 37,500 SF building includes enhanced service accessibility, a community room for public use, new council chambers with updated technology and a storm shelter.
“Each in its own way, these projects provide great benefit to the communities they serve,” said Cindy McCleary, managing principal of the LEO A DALY Minneapolis studio. “We’re grateful to the Minneapolis AIA for recognizing the design teams’ commitment to serving those communities.”
