Lied Scottsbluff Public Library

Scottsbluff, Nebraska

The Scottsbluff Public Library Board commissioned LEO A DALY to assist with a feasibility study to assess the library’s future needs, outline expansion/renovation options and provide subsequent architectural services. The conceptual library footprint was two times larger than the facility; consequently, designers modified the raised center roof to include clerestory windows, allowing diffused and controlled daylight to enhance the quality and comfort of the library interiors. These windows also provide a glowing lantern-look to the exterior during evenings and twilight hours. This project was the first in western Nebraska to achieve LEED certification.
