Des Moines Marriott Downtown

Des Moines, Iowa

The existing Marriott Des Moines underwent a complete renovation to create a welcoming lobby great room and improve the guest experience throughout the guestrooms and public spaces. Inspired by modern Americana, LEO A DALY’s design reflects a patchwork of agricultural history, threaded with modern crafted artistry to create a comforting feel for guests. The hotel embraces the past in a modern way; paying homage to the urban farmer through a contemporary lens.

LEO A DALY’s scope of work included upgrades to the guestrooms and suites in the guest tower, implementing the brand standard package in the guestrooms with custom designs for the suites. The design also included upgrades to public areas throughout the hotel, including the concierge lounge, lobby bar and coffee area, registration desk and porte cochere. A new great room provides a variety of seating options to accommodate workspace, meetings and casual gatherings.

In the typical guestroom, each headboard features a mural inspired by the region. High Trestle Trail Bridge, a local landmark, spans the banks of the Des Moines River Valley. The bridge is functional, but is seen by the community as an art installation as well, just like the artistic interpretation featured in the guestrooms.
